Jan Robert Leegte is one of the first Dutch artists to work on and for the Internet since the 1990s. The works from the JPEG series try to create an image programmatically fully expressing that signature compression. An image that is made from barely nothing, yet fully present in its blazing appearance. A work deeply material, expressing itself through the language of code and codec transferred to a plate of aluminum. This is not a JPEG depicting an image. The JPEG is the image itself.

More about Jan Robert Leegte

Ornaments present a new material iteration of Leegte’s long-standing investigation into digital ornamentation. This series consists of paint- on-wood-panel plotter works, each based on generative algorithms that produce complex bevelling structures, referencing both the aesthetics of GUI design and the architectural ornament.

Salomé Chatriot's artistic oeuvre ventures far beyond the confines of the digital realm. Her art soars beyond mere technological boundaries. Rather, her creative endeavors manifest as deeply physical and visceral, traversing beyond codes or a physical medium to bridge the chasm between the human form and the machine. Chatriot ruptures hackneyed stereotypes of technological iciness, shattering all barriers to engender an unbreakable kinship between humanity and machinery, creating a blood bond that transcends all.

Watercolors take center stage in Jagoda Bednarsky's practice. With their fluid immediacy and openness, they serve as direct sources of inspiration and form the foundation for large-scale canvases. They generate a tension between spontaneity and construction that lends her painting a distinctive vitality.

The firmament and blue sky are placesof longing, which shift and change ourperspectives of the world. The series Velamen Nubes Series A340 are modeled on airplane windows of the Airbus A340. On close inspection, the surfaces show traces of humans with map-like engravings of finger-, hair- and cheekprints. Lena Marie Emrich visualizes the moment of lift-off and the accompanying feelings of freedom and excitement during departure, througha forehead print on the airplane windows. The additional use of three-layered plexiglass creates a play of color and ref lections. Human imagination, presence and activation flow into one another

The PVA Compositions are based on army formations, and constitute a physical extension of a project in which Dullaart created a ‘fake’ army to stand up in the war against the current social media revolution and the fake validation systems in journalism based on follower counts. The SIM cards are used by companies offering PVAs (Phone Verified Accounts) as a service to create multiple user accounts for social media profiles, acting as passports to new identities. With this series of works, Dullaart points to the implications of the current attention economy, based on audience as the ultimate commodity.

Christian August's work consists in capturing urban changes on canvas. What surrounds him, what he discovers in cityscapes, merges into his paintings. The grey of the house facades is his ground on which the compositions develop processually.
