“It wasn’t “I need to learn to code → I study coding, ” but rather, “I’m curious about how things work → I study in reverse” – Yehwan Song for COEVAL

Yehwan Song is a Korean-born, New York–based web artist whose practice explores independently structured, non-user-centric internet spaces. Through websites, installations, sculptures, and performance-based interactions, Yehwan examines how the internet has shifted from a tool into an environment, redefining the role of the user as consumer and data provider. By challenging conventions of user-friendly design and standard UX, the work exposes the political, cultural, and technological assumptions embedded in digital systems, using friction, delay, and ambiguity to reveal what seamless interfaces are designed to conceal.
